Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT)

KSAT is a world-leading provider of ground station and earth observation services, leveraging optimized ground station locations for satellites in Low Earth Orbit. With over 50 years of history and 25 years of delivering advanced near real-time monitoring from multiple earth observation satellites, KSAT has extensive experience in the satellite service industry and serves as the Administrator of the Arctic Phi-Lab team.

The Arctic University of Norway (UIT)

UiT is a medium-sized research university that contributes to knowledge-based development regionally, nationally, and internationally. As the world’s northernmost university, its Arctic location shapes a research focus on climate change, resource exploitation, and environmental threats. With 15,500 students and 3,300 staff members, more than 20% of the academic staff and 10% of the students come from abroad.

As one of Norway’s leading institutes in earth observation from satellites, NORCE has unique expertise in information technology, satellite data processing, and the physical understanding of sensors, signals, and the observed media.

Akvaplan-niva

Akvaplan-niva, a research and consultancy company with 130 employees, integrates research, decision support, and innovation to ensure safe and sustainable water operations. Using autonomous vessels and AI-driven analysis, it collects and processes environmental data, complementing remote sensing with a low-CO₂ approach.

Norinnova

Norinnova, a business development company founded in 1990 and based in Tromsø, is owned by public and private entities, including UiT, SIVA, and Equinor. As a key player in northern Norway’s innovation ecosystem, it focuses on technology transfer from research institutions and developing growth companies through its business incubator.

Jordobservasjon AS

Jordobservasjon, founded by Tromsø municipality, KSAT, and UiT, aims to strengthen earth observation in Tromsø through collaboration and technology commercialization. The company is working to establish a national knowledge center and is contracted by KSAT to manage the Arctic Phi-Lab’s setup and operations.
