Akvaplan-niva
Akvaplan-niva is a research and consultancy company with 130 employees. We integrate research, decision support and technical innovation to secure economic value and safe environmental operations for businesses and authorities in all water related issues.
We have a range of autonomous and remotely operated vessels that we equip with advanced sensors and use as data collection platforms. The drones will gather environmental data, send them to e.g. satellites and then multimodal AI applications will identify, classify, and count target organisms or features. This is an effective, flexible and low-CO 2 way of collecting surface and sub surface data which complement remote sensing observations.
Norinnova
Norinnova is a business development company established in 1990 with headquarter in Tromsø, Norway. Norinnova employs 21 people and is owned by public and private companies with majority shareholders being UiT the Arctic University of Norway, SIVA (The Industrial Development Corporation of Norway) and Equinor Energy AS.
Norinnova is a central part of the innovation ecosystem in northern Norway, and the activities are within national and Troms and Finnmark County strategies for development of new businesses.
Norinnovas two main activities are technology transfer from public research institutions to companies, functioning as technology transfer office for UiT and the University Hospital of North Norway, and development of growth companies within the business incubator.
Jordobservasjon AS
Jordobservasjon is founded and owned by Tromsø municipality, KSAT and UiT and will organize the earth observation environment in Tromsø and facilitate increased cooperation and commercialization of technology in the field.
The company will work to establish a future national knowledge center for earth observation in Tromsø. Jordobservasjon AS is contracted by KSAT to perform the set-up and day-to-day operations of the Arctic Phi-Lab.
